2010 Volunteer Sign-up Overview
LYFS is a family organization of great volunteers of which the majority of the annual budget and associated cost are attracted through fundraising in order to provide a fantastic experience for the kids. LYFS takes pride in providing an exciting event & game day atmosphere and we need each of you to continue that tradition.
In 2009 our Master Events needs totaled over 2000 hours. In 2010 we have made several adjustments to our total hours needs and it comes to around 1500 hours and at the same time our family count has decreased. Also in 2010 we are faced with the largest group in recent history at our JV/Varsity levels in football and cheer and should quickly fill the game day slots of just under 300 hours to staff those home games and will need that group to focus staffing youth level games and other events.
There where several jobs available for initial sign-up week and still available now through your Team Parent whom will be working with their Master Coordinator on completing and posting the “Big Picture” List. One thing that is always a BIG help to reduce the required time for each of you annually are those that invest a great deal more than the minimum required to keep us rolling. There are tasks that are very helpful with knowledge of the job that some step up to complete for the entire year. A couple of examples are:
2 Game Day MPR per youth team (Home & Away), Game Day Clock (Home Games), Concession Set-up & Tear Down to name a few. Should you sign-up for one two hour session, yet have a parent that is willing to do this weekly, please understand that this will supersede and add value for all of us. Thank them for reducing all of our hours and kindly find another task.
Volunteer Minimum Hours:
Wildcat Families with two or more Children: A minimum of 7 hours of need per family
Wildcat Families with one child: A minimum of 6 hours of need per family
Asst Coaches/Team Parents with players: A minimum of 5 hours of need per family
Head Coaches or a Family with 2 Coaches: A minimum of 4 Hours of need per family
Board Members: Keep in mind that Board Members each have weekly and game day tasks and each invest several hundred hours annually for the kids. Although there is no minimum requirement they will always be found assisting at every event and will continue to do their part in reducing our needs of the membership.
Outside Volunteers: LYFS is very appreciative of several former members and non-members that volunteer annually at game day or other events. Last year we had over 20 again (awsome!) and we thank them for their dedication to the kids. This again lowers the need for member hours and we Thank them for their longstanding passion for the Wildcat Family!
Please Note:
Kids (13 & Under) can do 50/50 (not concession)
15 & Over (Freshman) can do some concession jobs (Token Taker, Soft Drink Runner) & Wildcat Wares Store
Friends, spouse or grandparents can certainly represent family in volunteer work (please utilize players last name when signing up for proper credit)
Under the structure above there are just over 1000 hours.
We have already noticed several that are exceeding minimum hours. OUTSTANDING THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reminder:
1. Please arrive early for your assignments to check in and transition
2. If you cannot make your assigned slot and you know that in advance it is your responsibility to switch with another parent and communicate to your team parent. Do not be a “No Show”
3. Serve our members, visitors and guests with a smile and have fun
Thank you in advance. We could not do this without help from you and look forward to a very fun year!
